Car Boot Sales in Bedale Park

Every Saturday from mid-March to mid-October sees one of our famous Car Boot Sales in Bedale Park. These are arranged by Bedale Town Council, with sales starting at 6am and finishing at around midday.

The dates for the car boot sale can be found here: Bedale Car Boot Sale Dates 2024

Our sales welcome buyers and sellers from all over the North of England every week with people coming from Newcastle, Teesside, York, Leeds, Carlisle and all places in between to enjoy the event and the town.

If the weather is not looking good, the decision whether or not the sale goes ahead is made by the Sale Supervisor in the small hours of the morning of the sale. We do not like to disappoint anyone and sales are only cancelled because of heavy rain or high winds, or because the condition of the park is such as to make it hazardous to bring vehicles onto it.

Selling

If you wish to attend the Car Boot Sale as a seller there is no need to pre-book. Just turn up on the day ready for the gates to open at 6am. There is a charge of £10 per car and £15 per van (or any vehicle with a trailer) which is payable at the gate - please note that prices have gone up this year for the first time in at least 15 years. Sellers should arrive in time for the start of the sale, and stay until the end.

Please access the park from the gate next to the entrance to Bedale Golf Club. This is the first turning on the right after turning towards Bedale from the bypass roundabout on the A684.

There is a sole caterer, and an ice cream van, contracted to the car boot sales, and we do not allow access to anyone else selling food or drink for consumption on site.

Buying

There is a little free parking available on Bedale Park (at the Golf Club end) for people attending the sale. The park gates are locked shortly after the end of the day's sale (usually 1pm), so please do not leave your car on the park after this time. When the park is full then there is disc parking available in the Market Place and there two reasonably-priced long stay pay and display car parks just behind the Market Place on Bridge Street.

Raising Money for Local Good Causes

The sales are also an opportunity for local organisations to raise much needed funds. Each week a different local organisation runs the event and provides volunteers to collect then entrance fees, keep the Park tidy, ensure that the sale runs smoothly.

The sales are supervised by Sockjohn Promotions with assistance from the charitable organisation of the day, and all sellers and visitors wishing to park will be directed to specific locations within the park.
